Q) Where are the nearest swimming pools or swimming areas?

A) There are indoor swimming pools at Dijon (30 mins from St. Germain, and 50 mins from Fresnes) and Montbard ( 30 mins from St. Germain, and 10 mins from Fresnes).
Lake swimming is available at Lake Kir (Dijon) and Lac du Pont at Semur-en-Auxois (20 mins from Fresnes, and 30 mins from St.Germain) has lots of water sports and diving/swimming facilities.

Q) Can I rent a bike locally?

A) Yes, there are two places at Venarey-Les-Laumes (one for “general” bicycles, and another for “specialist” bicycle rentals) which is 20 mins from St. Germain, and 10 mins from Fresnes.

Q) Are there local markets near the Gites?

A) There are many markets held in the area, the biggest local ones are at Montbard on Fridays, and Venarey-Les-Laumes on Wednesdays. Semur-en-Auxois has a small market (in Summer) on Sunday mornings.

Q) Is the property available for long weekends or short mid-week stays (i.e. less than a week)?

A) In High Season this is not normally possible unless you are willing to pay the full-week price, but out of season this can be possible. Please contact the owner for any enquiries.

Q) Do I need electrical adapters?

A) The properties have standard French “round pin” electrical sockets, so if you are coming with your own appliances, please remember to bring converters. Please note that both properties have hairdryers provided (with the right plug !)

Q) How far is it to drive from Calais to the property?

A) If taking the A26 Autoroute the journey is approximately 510Kms (310 miles) which normally takes us about 5 -> 5.5 hours, but we don’t stop for very long.

Q) Is there a taxi service nearby?

A) There are taxi services available close to both of the properties. Details and numbers are available at the properties.

Q) What shops are available in the village?

A) Neither village has any shops, but both benefit from daily Boulangerie vans and, less frequently, Bucher’s vans too. There is a small general store and bakery 5 minute drive away from St. Germain, and various facilities are available 10 minutes drive away from Fresnes

Q) Do I need to bring linen or towels?

A) All linen and towels are provided within the cost of the rental.

Q) Are there any condiments or other basic food accompaniments in the Kitchen?

A) We provide a “starter” set of general small items (e.g. salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, and a bottle of local wine to greet you !)
